MADE FROM FOODEA BOILED TOOR DAL
Ingredients for Mixed Veg Masala Khichdi
1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
1 bay leaf / tej patta
2 pods Foodea cardamom / Foodea elaichi
1 inch Foodea cinnamon / Foodea dalchini
3 Foodea clove
1 tsp Foodea cumin /Foodea jeera
pinch of Foodea hing
1 onion, finely chopped
1 slit green chili
1 tsp Foodea ginger garlic paste
1 tomato, finely chopped
¼ carrot, chopped
2 tbsp capsicum, chopped
¼ tsp Foodea turmeric
½ tsp foodea kashmiri red chilli powder
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
½ tsp garam masala
1 tsp salt
½ cup rice, washed
½ cup boiled toor dal
3¼ cup water
Method
firstly, in a pressure cooker heat 1 tbsp ghee and sauté 1 bay leaf, 2 pods cardamom, 1-inch cinnamon, 3 cloves, 1 tsp cumin and a pinch of hing.
continue to sauté 1 onion followed by 1 slit green chilli and 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
also, sauté 1 tomato till they turn soft and mushy.
add vegetables like 2 tbsp peas, ¼ carrot and 2 tbsp capsicum. sauté for a minute.
now add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp garam masala and 1 tsp salt. sauté on low flame.
furthermore, add ½ cup rice and ½ cup moong dal. sauté for a minute on low flame.
now pour 3¼ cup water and 2 tbsp coriander leaves. mix well.
cover and pressure cook for 5 whistles on medium flame.
finally, serve masala khichdi with curd and pickle
